A lightweight disc compatible hubset designed expressly for the new era of disc brake equipped road and cyclocross bikes.
Our high performance R45 Disc hubs are built to meet the requirements of the worlds' most demanding road and cyclocross riders with the long-term performance, durability, and serviceability that you expect from Chris King components. We equip our R45 Discs with the same race proven 45 point RingDrive engagement system and exceedingly smooth in-house made bearings that were raced through punishing conditions by US National team rider Danny Summerhill during the 2012 Cyclocross World Championships in Louisville.
These hubs feature an exquisitely machined 6-bolt disc mount that melds current disc mount specifications with elegant design for a beautiful finish and seamless integration. The front hub retains traditional 100mm spacing while the rear hub is designed around 135mm spacing, which has been established as the industry standard for disc compatible road and cyclocross bicycles.
The stainless-steel R45 Disc bearings are made in-house in Portland, Oregon and individually hand-checked for precision and smoothness. Our proprietary bearing design allows us to place more rolling elements per bearing meaning greater durability and precision. Our bearings also feature lightweight, low-friction seals for fast rolling and can be easily serviced at regular intervals using only a single 2.5 mm hex wrench and penknife.
Shimano/SRAM or Campagnolo
R45 Disc hubs are available in 11spd compatible Shimano/SRAM or Campagnolo versions. Like all Chris King hubsets we designed the R45 Discs to be easily upgradeable and convertible. Changing one version to another is simple, only requiring the use of version specific Driveshell assemblies and axles.
Ceramic Bearings - Made in-house
We make our own ceramic bearings and we build them to the same exacting standards as our classic, time-tested stainless steel ball model. Pairing the corrosion resistance of ceramic balls with our proven sealing system allows for greater flexibility with greasing options. We build our ceramic bearing R45 hubs with a very small amount of silicone-based lube for a system with very low drag. Take advantage of our user-serviceable bearings and run minimal lubrication for the ultimate in race-day performance.
Stainless Steel Bearings - Made in-house
The R45 hubset also has the option of stainless steel sealed bearings. As with every King bearing, these bearings are made in-house in Portland, Oregon and individually hand-checked for precision and smoothness.
R45D front and rear hubs are available in 28 &; 32 hole options.
